Denver Interns is a one or two-year development program where the second year builds upon the foundation of the previous year.  First year interns will focus on basic Bible knowledge, personal devotional life, and ministry skills.  Second year interns will go deeper in the word while focusing more energy on specific ministry development.  As the program moves along the Bible knowledge of the individual is broadened and the ministry expression is narrowed in a specific our Ministry Track. It is our desire to see the next generation of leaders trained in the church and released from the church to impact society wherever God takes them in the future.

Please take time to familiarize yourself with the philosophy, vision and expectation of the upcoming year. We will be in prayer for you and the plan of God for your life!

The core curriculum offered in Denver Interns includes Bible courses, leadership training and mentoring times that shape the person for a fulfilling Christian life.   The Pearl Church instructors and pastors teach these courses. In year 2 students may enroll in Portland Bible College and take online courses.  Those who complete classes will receive PBC degree credits. PBC grants Theological and Church Ministry degrees at the Associate and Baccalaureate levels to its graduates. Transcript requests and further inquiries regarding courses or coursework may be made directly to the Portland Bible College offices in Portland, Oregon at (503) 255-3540.

Pearl Church Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministries of The Pearl Church will be a training ground for those who desire to be involved with youth ministry in the future, as well as place for those who have a heart for youth and this generation to serve and disciple young people.  Youth ministry is a large part of The Pearl Church and an intern will have the opportunity to be in the ground level of building a ministry that is impacting the whole region.

Worship Ministry

This track focuses on the skills involved with worship and also the spirit of worship.  Interns following the worship track will be trained for worship ministry in the local church, as well as being mentored and coached in the greater principles and spirit of worship.

Church Administration

In a flourishing local church with many branches of ministry, Denver Interns will be able to be trained to serve in its administration and management systems.  Church data basing with Church Community Builder, donor management systems, church program organizing, office work and weekend service administration are all examples of experience the intern will receive.

Community Ministry

The Pearl Church desires to extend their ministry to the surrounding communities in the area.  You will have the privilege to not only be trained in the Biblical philosophy of ministering to the poor, but you will also gain valuable experience with local organizations partnering with The Pearl Church.  This heart-felt ministry will show you how to share the love of Jesus Christ with all people.

Pearl Church Kids

The Pearl Church Kids is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling areas of involvement.  You will be trained in philosophy, taught the vision of the children’s ministry, and have the privilege of watching the vision to minister and raise up godly kids come to reality.  Creation and execution will take place with Josh and Tiffany Escobar the Children’s directors of The Pearl Church.

Church Media Ministry

This area involves media, graphics, video production and live production video streaming for services.  You may have an opportunity to be trained in the various avenues of audio and video production, including video, editing, camera work, Pro Presenter, media broadcasts, and much more.  Graphic design and print publications are also included in this ministry.

I Timothy 4:12 “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

The Denver Interns Pledge Of Honor

This is a special season of life for an intern demanding a high level of commitment to creating an atmosphere where spiritual growth can take place.  We have developed a set of standards and values that must be adhered to for the duration of the program.  The goal is to create an atmosphere where God can do a very special deep work during this special season.  The Pledge of Honor must be signed and submitted once an application has been accepted.

Employment

As a Denver intern, we encourage you to maintain part-time employment in order to meet your expenses, but also to get out into the community. Because of your commitment to Denver Interns, we require that you limit your part-time workweek to 20 hours per wk.  If you are an international intern you will be required to show that the program can be paid for without working in the US.  Employment opportunities in the church are possible for international interns but not guaranteed.

Ministry Trips

One of the vital parts of your training as a Denver Intern will come through participation in one of our ministry trips and/or conferences. We plan to have each intern participate in at least one trip that will vary in location and duration throughout year. There are both national and international opportunities provided as the Lord directs. A percentage of your tuition is allocated for trip expenses, primarily the airfare. Depending upon the specifics for each trip, there may be additional expenses that you will be responsible for in order to participate. Additional mission trip information will be sent to you prior to acceptance into the program.

Finances

Tuition for Denver Interns is $3,600.00 per year per student.  This does not include the cost of housing and food. The tuition covers all courses, books, materials, manuals, conference fees, administrative expenses and a portion of your ministry trips.   Upon acceptance into the Intern program, the finance department will mail an invoice for the required initial payment, along with any forms that may need to be completed.

Interns are required to pay a minimum initial payment for $1,500 no later than Friday, July 28th, 2017.  The remaining balance will be divided into monthly installments for the months of Oct-May. Monthly tuition payments are due on the 1st of each month and begin in October. Payments received after the 10th of the month will be subject to a $25 late fee. Tuition payments may be paid in full at any point throughout the program.

Financial Preparedness and Stewardship

Financial preparedness is a key factor in determining whether this is the right time for someone to be a Pearl Church Intern.  We want each individual to be free from excessive financial debt during his or her time as an Intern.  Acceptance into the program is contingent upon the ability of each individual to faithfully handle any financial obligations as a Pearl Church Intern.

Classroom Instruction

Classroom instruction will be a combination of systematic biblical instruction, online courses, practical ministry training and discipleship concerning relevant life issues that impact Kingdom service.  The core classes offered through Pearl Church Interns may be an extension of Portland Bible College courses and will taught by our local and online instructors.

Practical Ministry Tracks and Apprenticeship

We believe that classroom learning and hands-on experience together is key to success in training up this next generation of leaders.  Pearl Church Interns will be involved in all aspects of the ministry from weekend service coordination, campus Bible studies, media, and community outreach.  You will have the opportunity to become an integral part of The Pearl Church at every level of ministry.

Missions and Outreach

We believe in participating with the body of Christ as it grows both here and around the world.  The Pearl Church Interns will have the opportunity to participate in mission/ministry trips both in the United States and abroad to churches, church plants, and various ministries including, Mexico, San Diego, Cambodia, Africa, Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, and many other destinations.

Planning for Program Success – It is essential for success in this program that your spiritual authorities are in unity with your decision to participate in The Pearl Church Interns.  Without the covering of your pastors, parents, and other important leaders and mentors it will be difficult have total peace concerning your involvement in this program.  It is your spiritual covering that can help assess your maturity and readiness for a program of this type. The leadership and blessing is important throughout the year.
